Scholarships

Friends of Tonga provides annual scholarships for students entering Form 3. Students will continue to be supported throughout their high school careers as long as they maintain a strong grade average and a clean school record regarding behavior. Scholarship recipients are determined through an application process and with the support of their school principals and head tutors.

Since 2019, Friends of Tonga has funded a growing number of students each year, starting with 8 students in 2019, and growing to 40 students for the 2024 school year.

Although high school in Tonga is free, students are still required to pay school fees, which include fees for materials, etc. Although these fees are only around $100 USD per year, they are often cost-prohibitive for Tonga families, especially large ones, both parents passed away,  and single parents.
