Friends of Tonga (FoT) is pleased to share that, on November 24th, a shipment of 100 emergency kits arrived in Tonga that will be distributed to rural and outer-island communities. This donation was the result of a collaboration between Island Block Network, United By An Ocean (Alisi Tulua, Rita Scanlan, Audrey Alo, Trisha Pereira, Heidi Quenga), House of Blues Anaheim / LiveNation (John Schalk), Alaska Airlines (Lindsey Tuiasosopo), Orange County Asian & Pacific Islander Community Alliance (MaryAnne Foo), Anamatangi, and LightWaterLife, who wished to provide disaster relief to Tonga after the Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai volcanic eruption and tsunami. Each kit consists of a mosquito net, solar panels and lights, and a bucket and water purification system.
